That sounds absolutely normal. The crown issue is to do with the gearing, turn it in the opposite direction first and then slowly pull it out. Regarding the second hands, make sure you wind it more than 25 full turns, and the second hand will start to work My submariner is having this problem, the age of the watch is around 3 yrs old and bought brand new. On asking the watchmaker, he said that sometimes during shipment fly wheel gets unaligned which may cause this. Hi! My husband got me this datejust for my birthday two years ago and recently, the seconds hand has not been moving when I wind the watch after not wearing it for a while. I’ll have to shake the watch around a bit for it to start moving. Once it starts to move, it’s fine.
If it's a non hacking movement (watch doesn't stop when you pull the crown all the way out), you can get the second hand to move backwards by holding the crown when all the way out. Paul Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.
